GARDENING IN WALES |
|
August:- Tasks for Week One.Pot Freesias for Early Flowering: Provided the corms are properly ripened, the earlier freesias can be potted the better for a supply of flowers at Christmas. Plant 6 corms in a 5"-6" pot. Repot and Start Arum Lilies: Take Lavender Cuttings: to renew old and woody plants.Line cuttings in a cold frame. They will have wonderful roots by next spring Pot Winter-flowering Begonias: if you took root cuttings in April, they should now be ready for potting on to their flowering pots. The magpie family is still very much out and about. If I leave my kitchen window open, one or more of them, probably the younger, bolder ones, will land on my window cill and look enviously at the cutlery drying on the drainer. The garden continues to attract many families and lone birds to the feeding tray my neighbour puts out. Enjoy your garden! Regards, Owen. |
