GARDENING IN WALES |
|
July: Tasks For Week TwoPrick out Perennials and Biennials: (sown in June 1) into nursery beds. This should be in an open position except violas, pansies, primroses and polyanthuses, which like a bit of shade. The ground should be rich and well-forked, but not recently manured with dung. Fork in a light hop mixture, if necessary. If the ground is dry when you are about to lift them, water thoroughly the night before. Replant 225mm apart. Prune Mock Oranges and Weigelas; they have probably finished by now anyway. Gather Herbs for Winter Use: do not wait for them to flower, they will lose much of their essential oils. Enjoy your garden! Regards, Owen. |
