               September:- Tasks for Week One.

Sow Hardy Annuals: alyssum, calendula, candytuft, clarkia, cornflower, poppies, coreopsis, godetia, larkspur, nigella, scabious and viscaria etc will flower next May-June. Thin to 3-4 inches apart as soon as possible, but then leave until March for further thinning.

Make a Mushroom Bed under Cover: this is the best time to propagate mushrooms indoors. The method is the same as for July: one, except that, in frames, the whole area is covered to a depth of two feet with manure. The frame lights (glass) may also be covered with sacking to keep out the light and maintain an even temperature. These will crop in mid-October and last well into the winter.

Plant Anemones: Plant Du Caen and St. Brigid types in successive batches to estend the flowering season.

There is plenty of greenhouse work, but I won't be covering that until next year

Not much else to do apparently, most of the work involves vegetables, which I will try to incorporate next year for those, who require the information.

Enjoy your garden!

Regards,
Owen.
