GARDENING IN WALES |
|
September:- Tasks for Week Three.Start to Plant Evergreen Shrubs: from now to October: week 2. Plant when weather is damp. Plant Violets in Frames: transfer violets that have been indoors since April to frames for winter flowering. Pick all Tomatoes: Outdoor tomatoes are not likely to ripen any more on the plants now, so it is as well to pick all the fruits that are showing some signs of colour and stand them in a sunny window to ripen. Absolutely green fruits can be made into a tomato chutney. Treat indoor (greenhouse) plants in the same way. There is plenty of greenhouse work, but I won't be covering that until next year Not much else to do apparently, most of the work involves vegetables, which I will try to incorporate next year for those, who require the information. Enjoy your garden! Regards, Owen.
